In this course, you will learn the basics for writing an essay.
You will practice:
1) brainstorming strategies
2) idea development
3) the way to structure an essay (e.g. thesis statement, paragraph organization, introductions/conclusions)
At the end of this course, you will write an essay and receive feedback on it from your instructors. You will then receive a certificate of completion.
This is a self-study course. You learn at your own speed.
This course is meant for students who have an Intermediate level or higher of English (B1 according to the European Framework of References for Languages).
You can test your level by watching the promo video and checking if you understood all of the content.

Here are your instructors: Rachel La Russo and Lea Gabay
My name is Rachel La Russo and Iām from the Washington, DC, area. I've been
teaching ESL since 2007 and have lived and worked in the US, Canada,
Puerto Rico, South Korea, and Guinea. I am passionate about languages
and language learning, and I enjoy experiencing other cultures during my
travels. I currently work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the
University of Massachusetts in Boston, where I am also a doctoral
student in Applied Linguistics. When I have free time I enjoy reading,
playing piano and clarinet, and going salsa dancing.
My name is Lea Gabay and I am currently teaching in San Francisco, California. I have taught ESL/EFL for almost ten years: 6 years overseas in countries such as Senegal, Vietnam, Spain, Germany, and France, and 4 years in the United States. I have taught all levels and in various teaching contexts (i.e. private institutes, community colleges, universities, and NGOs). Moreover, I have experience teaching English for Academic Purposes, Business English, General English, English in the Workplace, TOEFL preparation, and content courses on American culture. I have also worked as a teacher trainer.
